Sirtuins: An Overview

Sirtuins are a family of seven proteins (SIRT1-7) that share a conserved catalytic domain. They are found in all eukaryotes, from yeast to humans, and are highly conserved throughout evolution. Sirtuins function as NAD+-dependent deacetylases, meaning that they remove acetyl groups from lysine residues on target proteins.
